15 Fruits and Vegetables You Don’t Have to Buy Organic

If you don’t grow your own organic fruits and vegetables, trying to buy organic 100% of the time can be costly. That’s why it’s great to know, there are still produce you can buy non-organic and have peace of mind when you and your family eat your meals and snacks.

The Environmental Working Group or EWG compiles an annual list of the produce most and least contaminated by pesticides.  They call it their Clean 15.

Key Findings from the EWG:

  • Avocados were the cleanest: only 1 percent of avocado samples showed any detectable pesticides.
  • Some 89 percent of pineapples, 82 percent of kiwi, 80 percent of papayas, 88 percent of mango and 61 percent of cantaloupe had no residues.
  • No single fruit sample from the Clean Fifteen tested positive for more than 4 types of pesticides.
